Hi, my name is Rick Wilkinson, my wife and I started our locksmith
business; Key Way
Locksmith in 1984 where we had a full in shop and mobile service. By 1990 I
had formed KeySoft Security Software®
and was selling my master keying software to locksmith, schools, and
government intuitions world-wide.
Originally started out of necessity, my obsession for computers and perfection lead me to creating a smooth running easy to use version of my master keying software. I quickly realized I was in a unique position to help others that might benefit from my software as well as my locksmith experience.
My Goal
Offer great software at a great price with support that goes above and beyond my customers expectations. I believe word of mouth is a huge asset.
Even though I had great running master keying software that was only a start. I had to ask myself a few questions.
- Who would be using my software.
- How well do the majority of them know computers.
- How many even use computers now.
- And could they benefit from my software and my expertise as a locksmith.
With this in mind I set out to offer software that could be used by someone that had never used a computer before. But one that could unleash powerful features for the experienced user.
I did this in a way that did not overwhelm the beginners by having every possible customizing feature exposed the them while they create their systems. I did this by using hiding features in Tabs.
For example, the first tab you can create most any system in just three easy steps. Click the second tab to expose customizing features, tab three for customer notes, and the forth tab for ICC systems.
I also realized no questions my customers could ask was a "dumb question" when it came to my software or master keying in general, because some of them were new to computers and some of them were new to master keying.
That was the case in the 90's and it's still the case today. New locksmiths are starting up all the time, some know computers some don't. Some know master keying and some don't.
